Baby Josiah

Had a really lovely time in Penang with family over thursday and friday. Went up with Aunty Gaik and Mum to see baby Josiah, new addition to Alan and Laura's family. Most of the shots i took came out blur due to poor photography skills but here are some of the little dear...

on the move again...

life on the move is fun ain't it? we are supposed to be strangers in this land anyway... i have lost count of how many houses i've stayed in or how many times i've shifted... must be more than 20 by now... but even having to move around at work? sigh... anyway, on the bright side, moving is always exciting (except the packing part) becos there's a new place to do up and look forward to. And moving usually means to a better place... So, i move again...

Here are a few shots of the new place before renovations.

time flies by...

Wow, it really has been some time since i've put in an entry... things have been running like they've always been running. Week after week passes and each sunday i tell myself, "this week will be different!". i will be more disciplined, i will achieve more, i will talk to more people and each week seems just like the week before. Life is a constant struggle. My boss (the earthly one) reminded me today that God is not interested in our comfort but our character, and seeing things in that perspective makes things make sense. How many bosses will tell you that our character growth is more important than success in business? Especially when his Malaysia branch is in your hands? But, i've been feeling really awful lately, like a huge disaster, but let's not burden you with that. Anyway, here are some photo updates...

Merdeka in Malacca

So, we have been planning for some time what to do on this holiday. And no one can come up with anything creative or do-able. Let's face it, you have one day off, work the next day, don't wanna get caught in a jam, don't wanna do anything too physical (for Cheryl's sake) and yet wanna do something memorable. After checking out info on islands, caves and long drives we end up in Aunty Lan's at 1 something in the afternoon. It didn't help that we (Jeya and I) were playing futsal till late (2am) the night before. Oh, I didn't blog that we played futsal under merdeka fireworks (which incidently is terrible distracting!) and also had an interesting game with a bunch of malay chaps (which caused me to start thinking positively again about this whole merdeka issue...). Not to forget 50 or so futsal-lers stopping mid game to the strains of Negaraku. Priceless...

So, after lunch we decide to drive down to Malacca for jonker's street. We turned off into A Farmosa resort to have a look at the place. It's pretty interesting and looks like a possible venue for a retreat. After driving around and watching a bunch of chinese youths go at each other with paintball guns (we must do that some time!), we head for Malacca town via the old road. Old road is nicely tarred and wide but with way too many traffic light stops.

We visit the museum while waiting for Jonker street stalls to open.

Hermit the Crab

Pei Ling surprised me last fellowship dinner with a pair of hermit crabs. (thanks Pei Ling!) I told her, don't ever do that again. (Sorry, Pei Ling ;)) I was frustrated because I didn't know anything about hermit crabs and the poor fellas were without a proper habitat. Usually, some homework must be done regarding a new pet, and a habitat prepared before bringing them home. Well, one poor guy died but I went out and got 5 more (cos they have to live in a colony, you see) and so, here's the crabitat :D

And here's William... no i haven't named the others but he's just such a william la...

Fairy Rings DO Exist!

Look! We have a fairy ring in our garden :D

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

All the time i thought Enid Blyton was just making it up... together with toadstood parties, enchanted forests and faraway trees :)

Ok, although fairy rings DO exist as we discovered. Some googling taught me that it is actually caused by a fungus that spoils lawns and greens. Well, they're kinda pretty anyway, and i'm sure our cowgrass is tough enough to fight a battle against the spores that live beneath (cue eerie music). Wheee tomorrow is a holiday!
